Enjoy! Here’s a video for you to see how we do it.
In the Gifford house, we each take turns to make breakfast. On Thursdays, it’s Nixon’s turn to make breakfast. He usually makes french toast for all of us. We love to eat and make french toast. We have it every week.
Fun facts about French Toast:
-November 28 is National French Toast Day
-Recipes for French toast go back a really long time. The recipe can be traced to Ancient Roman times. One of first French names for this is le Pain a la Romaine or “Roman bread”.
-People in other countries eat french toast differently. We like ours with syrup and powdered sugar. In Scotland, they serve it with sausage and make it like a sandwich. In Great Britain they eat it with ketchup.
We love this recipe and we have used this recipe many times. This recipe is very simple and even kids can do it.
You only need 4 ingredients that you should already have in your fridge and cupboard to make this french toast which include:
2 eggs, 1 cup of milk, 1 tbsp of cinnamon, and 8 slices of bread.
First you have to crack the 2 eggs in a bowl. Next you mix the eggs up really well. After that you need to pour one cup of milk into the bowl. Then you have to put in 1 tablespoon of cinnamon. Once you mix it all up you get your griddle or pan ready and you dip the french toast in the bowl on both sides and put it on the griddle or pan. Once they start cooking, you can check it to see if that side cooked well enough. Then you flip it over and put it on a plate to cool off a little bit. Repeat the dipping and cooking part for each slice of bread. Cover it with your favorite toppings. Ours are syrup and powdered sugar.
